It had started with the custom of illumination of earthen lamps and blowing crackers on the day of Dipawali an important festival of Hindus which falls in the month of November every year. This day is celebrated on account of the honoring Ram an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Ram was believed to have renounced his royal life and lived in the forest like an ordinary man along with his wife Sita and brother Laxman to keep the promise of his father Dasarath. On this particular day he had returned to his Palace after completion of fourteen years of self eviction.

In fact, the fireworks are not only put in use on the festival of lights or Dipawali rather its sustained during the the celebration like weddings, private parties and public functions and others through out the year.
