Wood in Use

There are many woods and shrubs which are used in the handicraft works. The Most common woods used for making different wooden wares are as follows :

Blackwood (Shisam)

It is black in color had needed by the people for  its  natural  glaze. This is very strong and and highly reliable wood In the ancient days it was used for making pillars, wheels plough share and other durable goods.  Now-a-days, this is very costly  and scare  in the market because the wood is hardly found. Furniture made of this wood is very beautiful and  attractive for its natural attributes. Still it is used for home furnishing though it price has raised  to the sky height.

Teakwood

This is generally used for expensive furniture for home decoration. This is a quality wood  which is necessitated by the rich people to adorn their home and houses with precious furniture like bed, sofa set. cabinet, tables armchair and others. In the past days it was used as ornamental timber or pillars by the people of eminence.

Ebony

The wood is liked by people for its durability. Ebony was used in making vessels in the past days, sailing on which people were faring to overseas for  trading with aliens. Now it is also used for making furniture.

Cedar

This is relatively less strong and less durable if the particulars made of this wood for daily use. Hence, it is used for making show pieces to be stored inside. This trees are found to be grow in Ghats of high altitudes.
